Appointments

New Appointment System

Following an emergency appointment audit which showed over 25% of emergency appointments were booked inappropriately we have decided to amend the appointment system.

From Monday 9th April patients will be asked to give a brief description of their problem to our receptionists on behalf of the doctors so we can best direct their need.

We thank you for your cooperation

From The Hamilton Practice Partners Dr Chukwu, Dr Mohsin, Dr Chahal, Dr Singh, & Dr Thompson

About our Appointments System

General Information

If booking by telephone, the lines are open from 8am. For all other queries, please phone after 10am wherever possible to avoid peak times.

For Doctor Appointments: If it is not required the same day or urgent, an appointment on an alternative day eases the pressures on Doctor availability. This ensures fairness to other patients who do need a same day or urgent appointment.

It is not always possible to see the Doctor of your choice, although every effort is made to meet the patient's requirements.

Forward appointments can be booked at any time up to 2 weeks & 1 day ahead, subject to availability.

Urgent Problems

We have daily appointments for urgent problems which need to be dealt with on the same day. These appointments are for single problems only.

All requests for urgent appointments are given priority. Our phone lines are open from 8am - 8.30am for 'urgent' appointments only. We would respectfully ask that patients request 'routine' appointments from 8.30am onwards.

If a genuine 'emergency' arises at any time during our opening hours, you are free to contact the surgery for further advice.

You may not be able to see your preferred Doctor. Please see our Urgent Problems and Out of Hours page for information.

Reasons the GP or Nurse is Likely to be Running Late

Before you complain about the GP or Nurse running late, please download and read our information leaflet.

Chaperones

If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment we expect at least 24 hours notice, except in extreme cases, so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

We have a STRICT policy for patients who regularly miss their appointments which may ultimately result in the removal of them/their family from the practice list.

If you cannot keep your appointment with the Doctor or Nurse, please let Reception know in good time:

  1. SystmOnline:
Cancel Your Appointment online using SystmOnline.
  2. Online:
Use this alternative online cancellation method (no login required).
  3. By Telephone: Please call us on 01279 215415 and tell the receptionist.
  4. By Fax: Please send us a fax on 01279 645099.
  5. In Person: Call into the surgery and let the receptionist know in person.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.
